4.0 out of a maximum of 5 stars Great media player November 26, 2012

After much searching different players (no built because he wanted to take advantage of the fact that we already had 2 external hard disk drives), I ended decantándome on this, and read the reviews and the price seemed quite attractive. And today, I do not regret it at all. It's simple to use, with fairly intuitive menus and offers enough functionality: play content from your hard drive or flash drive attached disk, access online content such as youtube, social networking sites streaming video / audio (here the problem is that websites streaming video appearing not operate in Spain, such as Netflix, but I guess everything will come, but for example you can walk the Southcast Winamp and hear the music channels without problems). The only cons I've found, do not have free web browsing (although I'm investigating to see if you can somehow achieve), and sometimes when you turn the hard drive does not read well and I had to unplug the power to the player (has only occurred twice).

After reading several reviews somewhere where some complained about the slowness of the unit when indexing movies and files and have my doubts at the time of purchase, I found that the player did its job even when confronted literally thousands of files. Another question I faced was whether I play through wifi (reading my shared videos and movies from your PC, which is what I am using) would be stable enough to have no cuts. Honestly, and to my (pleasant) surprise, the player is capable of playing high-definition movies even without any problem and smoothly connecting to a normal wifi router in another room, with a wall in between. The remote is comfortable and served and sufficient to perform the basic operations of play, stop, skip or movie file ... without holding less safe when you touch a keyboard to write something like the search or when writing the key for wifi. Incidentally, the unit supports wireless keyboards punch with the receiver to one of its USB ports (tested that works without problems).Connectivity to network services including (Youtube, Vimeo, Facebook, Flickr ...) is very good. With my modest 6 megs free videos, films and streaming music are played without breaks or jumps. I have just tried the games that are accessible, that seem simple but addictive. Maybe you will miss simple web browser that would definitely earn even more points the player.

This is the second WD multimedia device and I am delighted. Very quick and easy installation. Nothing else connection to Internet I update the firmware, then just connect the HDD, in my case a 1TB Seagate, and already had access to all the multimedia library. Also scan all movies to put covers and a summary of each. It also has a complete set of applications such as Picasa, Facebook, Tunein Radio, etc.. In summary highly recommended.
4.0 out of a maximum of 5 stars I read everything and cuts through the wifi. 3 October 2013
I already have the previous model, for a few years and apart have an Android TV (Minix Neo X5). My sister asked me a media player, no frills, that fuerea reliable, reproducing everything. I took both home and saw running, chose the WD TV LIVE, and is the one I was going to recommend. Why? The answer is simple. There are people who want something simple, reliable and fulfill its purpose, and certainly in this case the WD TV LIVE is the right choice. And for the record I have the MINIX with XBMC installed and luxury will command MELE F10 and an application on the mobile phone to remotely control XBMC, where I see all the series and movies that I have cataloged, with their covers, trailers, synopsis, etc, etc, etc ... But back to the point, the WD TV LIVE. apparatus is somewhat smaller than its predecessor and more complete control, with shortcut keys to different options. Once you light first appears to choose language settings and Internet connection (wifi or cable .) I have wifi connected, when is connected to the internet and has found that there is a newer firmware version for this device. I've updated (restarts several times) and re-ignite automatically returned to find an even newer version that had just installed, so has again updated again. Once over, the main menu is friendly and intuitive.
